The Government Affairs Committee endorsed several candidates ahead of the June 16 election

June 4, 2026

Good policy opens doors — to housing opportunity, economic growth, and stronger communities.

That is why the Tulsa HBA Government Affairs team remains actively engaged at every level of government, advocating for policies and leadership that support the housing industry and protect the future of homebuilding across our region.

As part of that ongoing effort, the Tulsa HBA has endorsed several candidates ahead of the June 16 election. Those receiving endorsement support include:
• Johnnie Walker – Wagoner County Commissioner
• Stan Sallee – Tulsa County Commissioner
• Carrie DeWeese – Oklahoma House District 69
• Ally Seifried – Oklahoma Senate District 2
• Robert Franklin – Oklahoma State Superintendent
• Kevin Hern – United States Senator

The Government Affairs team is also closely monitoring developments in Bixby following the Mayor’s resignation and the City Manager's suspension. Leadership transitions and municipal decision-making can directly impact housing growth, development, infrastructure, and the overall business climate for the building industry.

In addition, Tulsa HBA representatives will travel to Washington, D.C. on June 10 to meet with Oklahoma’s Congressional leaders and discuss issues affecting housing affordability, workforce development, regulations, and the future of homebuilding.

Advocacy remains one of the most important ways the Tulsa HBA serves its members and the broader housing industry. By building relationships and staying engaged in conversations that shape our communities, the Association continues working to ensure the voice of housing is represented at the local, state, and national levels.
